Nanny teaching me how to make homemade pasta

I have a love for cooking and more importantly a love for eating.  I enjoy finding new restaurants and discovering new ingredients.   I occasionally cook directly from a recipe, but I usually put my own spin on it while also finding shortcuts to make it easier to prepare on a weeknight.

I find inspiration from books, magazines, restaurants, TV, friends and family; and enjoy experimenting with new techniques and cooking methods.  Sometimes they end in disaster… but it’s worth a try right?!

Here are some things you will find on my blog:

Flip’s Picks: I am Flip.  When I find a restaurant that at the top of my list, I’ll add it to restaurants but also put in under Flip’s picks.  These are the best of the best.  If you have a recommendation please let me know, I’m eager to hear your thoughts.

Recipes:  Everything and anything.  Some healthy, some very decadent, but all worth trying.  I’ll introduce you to new ingredients and combinations of flavors, as well as techniques for making thinks easier to prepare.  We all need help getting those vegetables on the plate, so I’ll share tricks for fixing salads and vegetables, two things I’ve had to fancy up to get my significant other to enjoy them (or at least pretend to).

Restaurants:  This will be restaurants reviews predominantly from Houston, but also on my travels.  I visit San Francisco often so you’ll find reviews of my favorites in the city by the bay, as well as anywhere else life takes me.

Whether it’s waffles, a grilled cheese sandwich, or a Sunday roast, I invite you to join me on my journey of discovering ingredients and new favors.

I want to thank my family, especially my mom for teaching me everything I know about cooking and being my #1 fan in the kitchen.  Mum, Dad, Nick, Cait, Zane and Les, thank you for support and encouragement!

xx
